Ledger Nano S is one of the best ways in which you can store your cryptocurrencies safely. I would recommend getting a hardware wallet if you are planning to invest serious money in this market, as it’s not a great idea to keep your coins on an exchange platform or MyEtherWallet. Even if they are relatively safe, hackers are always coming up with new methods to try and hack you so it’s best to stay safe.
What’s in the box?
Best way to get started with all the instructions that you need are here: http://start.ledgerwallet.com . Press on Ledger Nano S then Configure My Device and you will set the instructions on how to set up your Ledger Nano S with your own PIN code. It is important to store your 24 word recovery sheet! In case you lose your Ledger or it gets stolen, this is the only way to recover it!
Your Ledger Nano S
Your Ledger will have 2 buttons on one of the sides.

- when you press both buttons at the same time, that means that you will confirm a particular task
You will have to install Google Chrome on your computer to use it with Ledger. After you’ve installed Chrome, you need to install the Ledger Wallet Bitcoin, Ledger Wallet Ethereum and the Ledger Manager. You can install these from the Ledger website. These apps will be installed as an extension of Google Chrome.
Whenever you want to access these apps on your computer, first you have to connect your Ledger, enter the PIN and then you can open the app that you would like to use.
Sending Ethereum and ERC20 tokens to your Ledger
After you have set up your Ledger Nano S, you want to go to MyEtherWallet – https://www.myetherwallet.com/#view-wallet-info – and click on Ledger Wallet. After that, connect your Ledger Nano S to your computer using the USB port, put in your PIN code and then open the Ethereum wallet. After you’ve done that, click the Connect to Ledger Wallet button and you should be connected to your Ledger.
You can use any of these addresses to send your ETH or ERC-20 tokens – they are all safe to send coins to your Ledger. Click on the one that you want to check and press Unlock wallet, and this will take you to the corresponding MyEtherWallet page for your that particular address (which is connected to your Ledger and stored securely).
How to send my coins to my Ledger Nano S?
After you’ve connected your Ledger on MyEtherWallet, as I’ve mentioned above, you will see a list of ETH addresses that are associated with your Ledger. You can send your ETH / ERC-20 tokens to any of these addresses.
How to check my balance on the address of my Ledger?
In order to see the token balance corresponding to that address, scroll down until you see the Token Balance box and press on the Load Tokens button – this will show you all the tokens that you have stored on that particular address.
