After seeing the explosive price jumps happening recently, the Trump administration said during a press briefing session that the Trump administration is keeping an eye on cryptocurrencies.
Sarah Sanders, White House press secretary, said on Thursday that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are “currently being monitored by our team”.
During the press brief, one of the reporters asked whether the US government is planning to regulate cryptocurrencies, to which Sarah replied that currently there is no specific announcement on this but mentioned that this topic had been brought up in a meeting earlier this week by Tom Bossert, a member of the Homeland Security team. Sarah added:
“I know it’s something that he’s keeping an eye on. And we’ll keep you posted when we have anything further on it.”
According to this report, earlier this year, the White House revealed to Coindesk that representatives are currently exploring the implementation of blockchain technology as a means of improving the operations of the US government.
